Arriving at Takahuri Glamping Domes: What to Expect

The journey out to our place already feels like an escape—rolling hills, fresh country air, and the last few minutes on a gravel road setting the scene. When you arrive, we’ll meet you, show you around, and then leave you to settle in.

Your Private Dome Accommodation

Your dome will already be warm (or cool, depending on the season), with crisp linen, comfy beds, and a little welcome treat waiting for you. Take a wander, meet the animals, listen to the birds, and soak in the peacefulness. Many guests end up sitting outside with a drink, watching the sun dip below the hills and the stars come out—truly one of the best parts of Takahuri.

Glamping Activities: Nature Walks, Mountain Biking & River Swims

Head out for a gentle nature walk through the bush or along the river. If you're feeling adventurous, grab your bikes and explore our private mountain bike park—we’ve got trails for all levels and lots of space to play.

Cool off with a dip in the river, take a nap, read that book you've been meaning to finish, or even book in for a massage or a weaving class if you’ve organised it ahead of time.

Unplug and Recharge: A Relaxing Weekend in Whanganui

After a slow morning and a good coffee (yes, we’ve made sure you can make one!), the day is yours. Head into Whanganui or stay and relax.

We had a couple recently—Sophie and Tom from Wellington—who told us they hadn’t felt so relaxed in years. They arrived on a Friday completely frazzled from work, and by Saturday evening were sitting barefoot by the firepit, laughing like kids again. That’s the magic of this place.

Stargazing, Firepits, and Slowing Down

Nights at Takahuri are special. With almost no light pollution, the stars are next level. Add in a firepit, some marshmallows, and good company—it’s the perfect ending to a day in nature.

Before You Leave: Sunday Mornings on the Farm

Sundays are all about taking it slow. Have a lazy breakfast, watch the morning light filter through the trees, and take one last walk before packing up. We’ll come by to say goodbye, and you’re welcome to leave us a note in the guestbook—we love reading your stories.
